Purnima Shrestha Enlisted in CNN's Extreme Athletes of 2024

Kathmandu: Purnima Shrestha, a celebrated photojournalist and Everest summiter, has secured a spot on CNN's prestigious list of "Extreme Athletes Who Pushed Limits in 2024." The global recognition highlights her extraordinary accomplishments in mountaineering.

In response to the honor, Purnima expressed her pride and gratitude on social media, stating, "This year, 2024, remains historic for me. I climbed Mt. Everest three times in a single season, becoming the first woman in the world to achieve this feat." She extended thanks to her family, friends, and supporters while expressing hopes for even greater achievements in 2025.

Purnima achieved the remarkable feat of summiting Mount Everest three times within just two weeks during the spring climbing season. Her successful ascents took place on May 12, 19, and 25. In addition to this historic achievement, she also became the first Nepali woman to conquer Dhaulagiri, one of the world's most challenging peaks.
